And yet another mis-adventure

This morning, dh and I were lazing around in bed, and the kids were getting breakfast.  I made these little cakes for A's birthday yesterday, and there were a few left over, so they asked dh if they could each have one for breakfast.  He said sure.  Well, the cakes I made have a fudge sauce in the middle, so in order to make it a “lava” cake, there are directions for reheating them in the microwave.  Well, my oldest didn't read the directions, but just decided that two minutes would be good.  Next thing I hear is a bunch of commotion, and then, “Get Micah out of the smoke!”

Dh and  I run out there to find the whole main room of our house engulfed in smoke, and smoke pouring out of the microwave!  Well, almost two hours later, and all of the windows and the door open, and the fan going, it still has a lingering smell of smoke, especially in the kitchen.  YUCK!!  I think my oldest learned his lesson though, at least I HOPE so!  I have candles burning too, but it is really chilly outside today, so I have closed up most of the windows.

One adventure after another….

  2. DH and I really enjoyed that and had a good laugh. I think is so funny because it sounds so familar. My youngest who is 3yrs old decided he wanted a corndog a few months ago. He had watched his big brother make them all the time and I guess he figured it looked easy and he could do that. Well we knew nothing about it until the smoke stated pouring out of the kitchen. I have no idea how much time he put on the microwave, but it still had two minutes on it when I went in. The plastic plate had a hole it where it had melted and the mini corndog was black and smoking like crazy. I’m not sure I would have know what it was without the box sitting out. We had a long talk about the fact he wasn’t old enough to use the microwave yet.

  3. I can only imagine how quick you all must have jumped out of the bed! LOL Those cakes sound pretty neat and yummy :-)

  4. That’s funny…although at the time, I am sure you weren’t laughing. My dd did this with a sausage biscut when she was 3yo. If I remember correctly, when I walked in the kitchen, there was even a little flame on that poor little sausage patty. Our microwave smelled terrible for weeks. Blessings,

  5. I wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog. It means a lot to me to have other ladies share their story.

Thank you and stop by again!
