In April, we bought 6.16 acres about 20 minutes from town!  We currently live 70 miles from town, on my in-laws 1 acre lot right next to the Highway.  We are living in a 1400sf home that my dearest husband built himself, while I was pregnant with our fourth child, our daughter.  Our plan is to build a basement on our new property and have our current home moved down and set on top of the basement, thus more than doubling our living space!  Quite an endeavor, eh?  I am so excited about having more room to spread out!

Actually moving houses around here is not really that uncommon, although I believe our home is a bit bigger than the average home/cabin that is moved.  Our home measures 30ftx48ft.  One really nice thing about “moving” this way is I won't have to pack everything!  This will be the easiest move I have ever done!

We have even bought a D7 Dozer!  Dh and my dad saw it for sale, and after looking it over, decided that it was worth the investment to purchase it as opposed to paying several thousand dollars to rent one for a few weeks.  Both my dad and dh's dad have extensive experience driving large equipment, so now we are all set for doing a lot of the work!  Now we just need an excavator….

So far, dh and my dad have cut down the trees where the house and driveway will be put, have skidded and stacked the trees, and my fil has been clearing the area of underbrush and stumps.  Men sure love using equipment, don't they!

I will post pictures of the property as soon as I can get them off of my camera!  My hard drive failed, so dh replaced it, but now the camera disk drive doesn't work.  Gotta love computers, eh?  But they are our livelyhood, so I am not complaining!! 😉
