Read what Martha Peace has to say about Passionate Housewives Desperate for God!
"Passionate Housewives, Desperate for God is an exceptionally well written book. Jennie Chancey and Stacy McDonald do not pretend to be the perfect wives, mothers, and homemakers; but they do have a heart for God and His glory. Both of them see the role of the wife and mother as God’s high and holy calling and they exhort us through Scripture and practical examples to, by God’s grace, fulfill that calling. This book will make you think, will convict you, and will, as the subtitle states, give you a ‘fresh vision for the Hopeful Homemaker.’ I highly recommend this book." Martha Peace, Biblical Counselor and author of The Excellent Wife.

Vision Forum’s New Book ‘Passionate Housewives, Desperate for God’

Exalts Real-Life Homemakers While Shattering Distorted Portrait of ‘Desperate Housewives’

As new episodes of "Desperate Housewives" launch this fall, two real-life housewives—raising 18 children between them—release a controversial, new book nationwide in bookstores, October 30, 2007.

San Antonio, TX (PRWEB via PRWebDirect) October 3, 2007 — Delicious secrets hide behind every neighbor’s closed door in the seemingly perfect American suburb of Fairview, the fictional hometown of ABC’s "Desperate Housewives" TV series, considered the most popular show in its demographic worldwide with 115 million viewers. “Passionate Housewives, Desperate for God” (Vision Forum, Inc.) shatters the homemaker stereotypes depicted in "Desperate Housewives" and "The Stepford Wives" and exposes the hollow ideal of the androgynous power woman, whose worth is measured solely by the degree of her self-ambition, the shape of her body and her money-making skills.

“Passionate Housewives, Desperate for God” Co-authors Stacy McDonald and Jennie Chancey took two and a half years—through spilled orange juice, stray laundry, and mayhem of busy family life—to write the book. With candor and humor, it offers readers a refreshing, counter-cultural view that married women should be joyful “keepers at home,” embracing their God-given roles as helpmeets to their husbands and nurturers to their children.

“Like a filthy and unruly stray dog on bath day, feminism has been scrubbed and perfumed and presented to us as biblical,” writes McDonald, the wife of Pastor James McDonald and author of ‘Raising Maidens of Virtue.’ She illustrates the dangers of whitewashed feminism, often responsible for fellow evangelicals stumbling over the Genesis 2 interpretation of women’s roles in marriage. “The biblical directives given to women to be wives, mothers and keepers of the home are minimized or set aside as quaint but unnecessary options.”

Chancey, a former feminist who launched http://www.ladiesagainstfeminism.com/ in 2002, says, “Mine is not a story of perfection. I was once a Christian feminist; I’ve seen the other side. I know how empty it is….I went from die-hard homemaker-in-training to dedicated career woman—and then God gripped my heart.”

In addition, "Passionate Housewives, Desperate for God" discusses:

• The false gospel of self

• The beauty of God-centered marriage

• Why real women are passionate about true womanhood, marriage and motherhood

• What the Bible teaches about servanthood and slavery—and the difference

• Real-life examples of happy, contented homemakers

• Why being a homemaker is not a waste of God-given talents

Today…prayers for flooding needed

I had a rough day emotionally today, so dh thinks maybe it is
a sign of things to come. I am just over 38 weeks, so he isn't late at
all, but I am definitely emotionally ready to be done.

We have had so much rain in the last couple of days, that the rivers are
nearing flood stage. Some are even over flood stage. We have a “lake”
in front of our house, and a “river” running down the side of our house.

Here is a link to the newspaper article online about the flooding.

My concern is that the highway to town will get shut down due to the
rivers overrunning the highway. We have only one highway to town, and
it has happened before. Dh is sure he can take care of me but it
makes me nervous. We have plenty of EMT's and emergency responders that
live close by, but I KNOW all of them! I would be kind of embarrased to
have my friend's husband deliver for me! What a story though, eh?

My back is feeling a bit better.  I was able to feel it go back in, but was still experiencing a lot of pain from it.  I think maybe it was just muscle pain though as it has eased up throughout the day.

Anyway, that's my update. Thanks for praying!  I will keep you posted!

Doesn’t this look wonderful!

Kris, of Journey Back In Time, created this new blog template for me!  I couldn't be happier!  She was so tolerant of my many emails to her asking for this change and then another one…and what a perfect fit for me!

She also did new blog templates for:

Bump on a Blog

Receiving God's Blessings in the Bahamas

Picket Fence Mom's Place (absolutely love this one!)

Chronicles from Holland

Thank you, thank you, thank you Kris!  I love it!  Isn't she the best?!?

This is the day that the Lord has made…

Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Here is my sweet, loving, hardworking husband, to whom I have been married for 12 years today!  He is such a wonderful man, always putting others first, and devoting his life to serving others in a quiet unassuming way.  This picture was taken last fall at our new property, while he was, as usual, working hard to build us our large, brand-new home!

I respect and love you, honey, more than words can express.  You are such a wonderful husband and loving father.  I thank God for you daily.

Contest! Win a free book!

Gayle, over at Grace For Gayle, is having a free book giveaway!  She is giving out five copies of a book called For Women Only:  What you need to know about the inner lives of men by Shaunti Feldhahn.  She is going to do an online book discussion group, and this is the first book that she is going to use!  It sounds rather interesting, so I thought I might join in.  Check it out!

Another birthday boy!

Happy Birthday to my 2nd born!  He turned 10 today!  I now have two children in double digits.  This son is lovable, a snuggler, high-energy, hard-working, helpful, and great with his baby brother and sister.

We are having lasagne for dinner, Chocolate Lava Cake and orange sherbet for dessert.  Strange combination, but that's what he wants.

He is getting hip waders and water boots too, as well as a Dinosaur Lego set, some poetry books, and a fiction book.  His brothers and sister also picked out a Star Wars Lego set and a little electronic game with a bunch of games on it.

My kids are so good about getting things for their siblings that they would really enjoy, and not thinking about what they themselves would like to get.  I find it so sweet.  Oh, he has learned how to make fried eggs, and chocolate chip cookies!  I think his cookies are better than mine!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my handsome young man!!!
